WHY AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT?

I often suggest getting an engagement shoot before the wedding. You may ask yourself if this is necessary. So here are some reasons as to why it is a good idea to get an engagement shoot before your wedding day:

  1. Get yourself some sweet photos
There is something special about engagements. They are a big deal. You have both made a choice that will impact your lives forever. You chose each other. This little chapter of your lives is often overlooked. It’s often filled with the hype and planning of the wedding. However, this chapter is very special as you two will begin to bond in a new way as you have the confidence in knowing that you are making a commitment to each other. So slow it down…. Take it in and cherish this small and important stage of your relationship. Grab some rad pics to capture the intimacy and love as you two grow closer together.
  2. A chance to let loose & get creative
This is the chance to get crazy, wacky or serious. It’s your story. Let loose and show the world who you really are as a couple. This is a great opportunity to experiment and explore styles and ideas. Show me what you like and don’t like, before we start capturing your big day.
  3. Your photos are actually pretty useful
Parents always love pics of their children. Blowup an image from your engagement shoot, it will make an awesome gift to your parents. Engagement pictures could also be used as “Save the Date” cards, eliminating yet another item for you to do for your wedding preparations and planning.
  4. Practice for the big day- practice makes perfect
This is a great opportunity for you to get used to being in front of the camera. Get comfortable and learn poses. This will help things run smoother and quicker on the wedding day and allow you to relax for more beautiful and natural images.
  5. Letting your photographer get to know you
Each couple has their own personality and story. As a photographer, understanding this will helps me take better photographs that truly represent you as a couple.
  6. Getting to know your photographer
Getting to know your photographer better and how things work, will help you relax. This helps create more natural looking images. You will also understand the directions and guidance, better saving you time and allowing you to focus on your day more.
  7. Trial run for hair & makeup
If you are not traditional and don’t mind your fiancé seeing your hair and makeup, this is a great opportunity to see how your hair and makeup will look in the images before the big day.

WEDDINGS

We spend our life searching for that perfect match. We then spend an enormous amount of energy and money making sure that the day is perfect and matches our dreams and expectations. Be careful of being influenced by what other people have had before you. Your wedding should be as unique as you are and should portray the two of you as such. It is incredibly important that you ensure that your photographers’ style will meet your needs and budget. A general rule of thumb is that your photographer will cost you between 10 & 20% of your total wedding budget.
Your wedding day is an incredibly important occasion that I take great pride in and I feel honored to be able to capture those incredible memories. My goal is to create an excellence and to ensure that I consistently deliver the best possible experience for all our clients.
I thoroughly believe that weddings are an incredibly important, emotional, and spiritual event in one’s life. I try to respect it as such. I do my utmost to express the passion and love of the day and the emotions between the couple and their guests. My photography therefore has a somewhat elegant editorial yet journalist approach capturing the relationships between people and emotionally uplifting the bridal couple in the fun but seriousness of the occasion.

A general wedding day consists of:

  • The Groom and groomsmen preparations
  • The Bride and bridesmaids’ preparations
  • The Ceremony
  • Creative Shoot
  • The Reception (Speeches/ First Dance/ Cutting of the Cake/ Throwing of the Garter/ Throwing of the Bouquet/ General Dance & Party)

MATERNITY

Pregnancy is one of Gods little miracles and women really do show the beauty of motherhood in this chapter of their lives. Before you know it, the 9 months are up and your family has grown. STYLED

Creativity is that one element that keeps me going from day to day. I love experimenting and trying out new techniques, trying to create something new and unique that will set me apart from the others. Styled sessions can be either on location or in studio. I’ve been lucky enough to have built and developed my very own studio that I run from home. This creates a safe and personal environment where we can concentrate on getting quality images for you. Whether it’s a family, maternity, lifestyle or product shoot, why not book the studio and we can start getting creative?

TRAVEL

I have had a great opportunity to travel and sometimes work and live in countries other than South Africa (Swaziland, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Angola, Togo, Ghana, Mauritius, England & France). I love experiencing new cultures and sceneries. Always with a camera close at hand, I am eager to give a true account to the culture and scenery that is unique to each adventure. Do you have an expedition or adventure that you would like documented? Do you need a photographer? Contact me and I will customise a package for your trip.
